It is possible to gain extensive experience in statistical analysis methods applied particularly to environmental sciences data and problems. We offer courses that build upon prior knowledge. Someone interested in pursuing this path might take the following course sequence:
EVSC 5030: Applied Statistics for Environmental Scientists
Hypothesis testiing, experimental design, univariate statistics, analysis of variance, regression
EVSC 5040: Messy Data: Statistical Methods in Ecology and Environmental Sciences
Multivariate statistics, multiple regression, times series analysis
EVSC 5070: Deep Learning in Environmental Science
Feed-forward networks, convolutional neural networks, encoders-decoders, tools of explainable AI
Note that any of these courses may be used to meet the related work requirement for a non-lab math, science, or statistics class for the B.S. degree, but it may not simultaneously be counted for both a related work requirement and a B.S. elective.
