Study on heat stress in East Africa covered by UVA Today
A recent study by Envi Sci research associate Salvi Asefi-Najafabady and professor Deborah Lawrence has been published in the journal Climate Change and covered by UVA Today. The study used models to predict future occurrence of heat stress, finding that 10s of millions of people in East Africa could face over 100 additional days of dangerous heat per year by 2090.

VCR research on seagrass restoration highlighted in WVTF interview
Research by the Virginia Coastal Reserve LTER (VCR LTER) and UVA Envi Sci’s Anheuser-Busch Coastal Research Center (ABCRC) on seagrass restoration on the DelMarVa Peninsula was featured in a recent WVTF story by Pamela D’Angelo. VCR LTER and ABCRC site director Cora Johnston was interviewed about the restoration’s success, which has been carried out by the Nature Conservancy and Virginia Institute of Marine Science, and threats from climate change and off-shore drilling
