Mirella graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University in Spring 2020 with a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Studies, minoring in Biology and receiving a certificate in Sustainable Innovation. She expressed a strong interest in serving her community by addressing food insecurity, cultural bias, and environmental justice in her community. Shortly after, she began pursuing a Doctorate degree in Environmental Science at the University of Virginia where she currently studies micro-meteorology in the Arctic using an interdisciplinary, community centered approach. Outside of academia, she acts on the boards of RVA4Lebanon and Stay Safe, two Middle Eastern Non-Profit/Non-Governmental Organizations geared towards providing economic and public health aid to Lebanon. Mirella enjoys finding valuable connections between data and real world application, as well as communicating science in inclusive and interesting ways.
